I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO INSTALL A DVD FLIP UP AUDIO SYSTEM IN A C5 CORVETTE
I will install this Tview Audio System that Has AM/ FM Radio , CD , DVD, IPOD, GPS and Rear View Back-Up Camera System. This should take less than a couple of hours.
What is needed to get started ? 1. The Audio System 2. A corvette Wire Harness 3. A Face Kit 4. A Screw Driver and pair of Plyers 5. Wire and 6. Some wire connectors.
Let's Get Started!!!
First , Disconnect the Negative Battery Post. You do not want to run down your battery or Short out any wires.
Remove the screw next to the Ash Tray and then pull the Ash Tray completely out.
Remove the screw that's behind the Ash Tray and pop out the small vent cover next to the ignition switch.
Remove the screw located behind the vent cover.
Open the middle console and remove the two rear bolts.
Pop out the Selected Ride Panel.
Disconnect the Selected Ride Panel, Disconnect the Cigarette Lighter Connector and remove the two bolts remaining in the Middle Console.
Now the front console will pop out and can be removed.
Remove the two screws that's supporting the radio and pull it completely out.
Now , locate the wiring.
This is important, Go inside , sit at a table and get this right !!!! Attach the wiring harness to the wires that comes with the Audio System. The 8 speaker wires are matched by colors . Example: Connect the gray wire on the harness to the gray wire of the Audio unit. Purple to purple ,blue to blue , white to white and etc.
Now, go back to the car and attach the red (hot wire) to the #7 fuse in the panel box. Connect the Yellow ( Constant power wire) to # 11 fuse in the panel box and finally connect the black (ground wire) to a metal part of the car. Now your wiring is complete, that wasn't so hard.
Plug in the wiring harness to the car and to the Audio System. Plug in the Radio antenna.
Place your audio system in the face kit to fill in the empty space and lock it down with the two radio screws.
Reconnect the cigarette lighter and pop in the front console.
Put the three screws back in and lock down the console. Put the ash tray and the panel cover next to the ignition switch back in.
Reconnect the middle console by securing four bolts.
Reconnect the Selective Ride Panel , attach the cigarette lighter and pop it down in place.
Check and make sure everything is in it's proper place and is secure.
Reconnect the negative post on your battery.
Turn on your switch , put in a DVD and let's watch " The Jeffersons"
COMPLETE !!!!
It's time to upgrade the Audio in my C4 Roadster.
I was so impressed with the Audio Unit I installed in my C5 Corvette , that I installed the same Audio Unit in my C4 Convertible. The C4 is a much easier installation, remove the front console and follow the same instructions listed above.
HOW TO INSTALL A DVD IN A C5 CORVETTE
Corvette owners are constantly blogging for information on how to remove and install an Audio System. Being a former car dealer , I have installed many radios and CD's in various vehicles. I decide to change out my system this week on my C5 Vette. If you follow my instruction , you can do the same and save between $200. and $300. Plus have the pleasure of working on your own ride.
Good Luck!!!!
